The Planning Committee for the Heritage Gathering: The Families of Sherman and Emma Baker Johnson is holding this year's Gathering on 25 July 2009 at Pioneer Park, 3951 Madison Pike, in Covington, Kentucky. This Heritage Gathering is held every other year with the next Gathering planned for 2011.

Grandpa (baba) Sherman and Grandma (imau) Emma Baker Johnson were the descendants of Afrikan slaves. (Imau) Emma grew up in Harrison County, Kentucky. (Baba) Sherman was born in Flemings County, Kentucky. (Imau) and (Baba) had 10 children: Clara, Eddie, Samuel "Pap," John "Sheik," Ollie "Bates," Lizzie, Viola, Oscar "Popeye," Anna Mae and Ella. All of Emma's and Sherman's children lived their final years in Northern Kentucky, with the exception of Samuel "Pap" who lived in Akron, Ohio. Willie, Sherman's eldest child, lived his final years in Cincinnati, Ohio. Emma and Sherman lived in the City of Elsmere, in Northern Kentucky until their passing in the early 1950's.

The Committee hopes that any family member/relative of the late Sherman and Emma Baker Johnson will receive this notice and contact them for directions and more information about the Family Heritage Gathering.
